Pressure Control

Hydraulically controlled, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridges use an external pilot signal instead of an adjustable spring to control the pressure setting. The hydraulic signal is supplied through a port in the hex-end of the cartridge and is amplified at a ratio of 12:1. They are normally closed pressure regulating valves. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to regulate the pressure. These valves are meant to amplify the signal from pilot controls such as joysticks. These valves are accurate, have low pressure rise vs. flow, they are smooth, quiet, and are moderately fast.

• NOTE: Any pressure fluctuation at port 3 (drain) will be amplified by a factor of 12. Consideration must be given that the drain has a clear path to tank, even to the point of ending it above the level of fluid.
• Pilot pressure should not exceed 600 psi (40 bar).
• Pressure settings are insensitive to back pressure at the tank port (port 2).
• These valves are not suitable for typical cross-port relief circuits.
• Main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
• Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
