The Sun Hydraulics RVGAMCV (Material Number: RVGAMCV) is a ventable, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed for pressure regulation. This normally closed valve opens to the tank port when inlet pressure reaches the set point, smoothly throttling flow to maintain desired pressure levels. It features a vent port that allows remote control by other pilot or 2-way valves, adding versatility in various hydraulic applications. The valve supports maximum pressure at port 2, making it suitable for cross-port relief circuits; however, spool leakage should be considered in such configurations. The main stage orifice is safeguarded by a 150-micron stainless steel screen, and the design incorporates Sun's floating style construction to prevent internal part binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. This cartridge is not recommended for load-holding applications due to potential spool leakage. It can handle back pressure on the tank port at a 1:1 ratio with the valve setting. For systems using phosphate ester fluids, cartridges with EPDM seals are available but should not be exposed to petroleum-based substances as they may cause damage. The RVGAMCV operates at a maximum pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and offers a control pilot flow of 15-20 in\u00b3/min (0.25-0.33 L/min). It has a typical response time of 10 ms and minimal leakage at standard conditions. Installation requires specific torques: valve installation torque between 150-160 lbf ft (203-217 Nm), adjustment screw internal hex size of 5/32 in (4 mm), and locknut torque between 80-90 lbf in (9-10 Nm). With a capacity of up to 60 gpm (240 L/min) and weighing approximately 1.60 lb (0.70 kg), this model is equipped with Viton seal kits for enhanced durability under challenging conditions.

Ventable, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridges are normally closed pressure regulating valves. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to regulate the pressure. They provide a vent port (port 3) that connects between the main piston and pilot stage to provide for remote control by other pilot or 2-way valves. These valves are accurate, have low pressure rise vs. flow, they are smooth and quiet, and are moderately fast.
- A remote pilot relief on port 3 (vent) will control the valve below its own setting.
- Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits. If used in cross port relief circuits, consider spool leakage.
- Main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
- Not suitable for use in load holding applications due to spool leakage.
- Back pressure on the tank port (port 2) is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
- Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
