The Sun Hydraulics RVGAMAN (RVGAMAN) is a ventable, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed for precise pressure regulation in hydraulic systems. This normally closed valve opens to the tank port 2 when the inlet port 1 reaches the set pressure, thereby throttling flow to maintain a stable pressure level. It features a vent port 3 that allows for remote control via other pilot or two-way valves, offering versatility in various applications. The valve is known for its accuracy, smooth operation, low noise levels, and moderate speed. It accepts maximum pressure at port 2 and is suitable for cross-port relief circuits; however, spool leakage should be considered in such applications. The main stage orifice is safeguarded by a 150-micron stainless steel screen, ensuring durability and reliability. Despite its robust design, it is not recommended for load-holding applications due to potential spool leakage. The back pressure on tank port 2 directly affects the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. For systems using phosphate ester fluids, cartridges with EPDM seals are available but should not be exposed to petroleum-based substances as this could damage the seals. The RVGAMAN incorporates Sun's floating style construction to reduce binding risks from excessive installation torque or machining variations. It fits into cavity T-17A and belongs to Series 3 with a capacity of up to 60 gpm (240 L/min). Factory settings are established at a flow of 4 gpm (15 L/min), with maximum operating pressures reaching up to 5000 psi (350 bar). The control pilot flow ranges from 15-20 in\u00b3/min (0.25-0.33 L/min), and typical response time is around 10 ms. Maximum valve leakage at specified conditions is limited to 4 in\u00b3/min (65 cc/min). The unit's installation involves specific torque settings for both the valve and locknut components.

Ventable, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridges are normally closed pressure regulating valves. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to regulate the pressure. They provide a vent port (port 3) that connects between the main piston and pilot stage to provide for remote control by other pilot or 2-way valves. These valves are accurate, have low pressure rise vs. flow, they are smooth and quiet, and are moderately fast.

  • A remote pilot relief on port 3 (vent) will control the valve below its own setting.
  • Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits. If used in cross port relief circuits, consider spool leakage.
  • Main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
  • Not suitable for use in load holding applications due to spool leakage.
  • Back pressure on the tank port (port 2) is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
