The Sun Hydraulics RVEAORN (RVEAORN) is a ventable, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed to regulate pressure by opening to tank port 2 when the inlet port 1 reaches the valve setting. It features a vent port 3 for remote control via other pilot or 2-way valves. This cartridge is known for its accuracy, low pressure rise versus flow, smooth and quiet operation, and moderate speed. The RVEAORN can handle maximum pressure at port 2 and is suitable for cross-port relief circuits; however, spool leakage should be considered in such applications. It is not recommended for load-holding due to spool leakage. The main stage orifice includes a 150-micron stainless steel screen for protection. The valve's setting is directly affected by back pressure on tank port 2 at a 1:1 ratio. Cartridges with EPDM seals are compatible with phosphate ester fluids but can be damaged by petroleum-based substances. The Sun floating style construction minimizes binding risks from excessive installation torque or machining variations. The RVEAORN fits into Cavity T-2A and has a capacity of 30 gpm (120 L/min). Its factory pressure settings are established at 4 gpm (15 L/min), with a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). Control pilot flow ranges from 10 to 15 in\u00b3/min (0.16 to 0.25 L/min), with a typical response time of around 10 ms. Maximum valve leakage at 110 SUS (24 cSt) is approximately 3 in\u00b3/min (50 cc/min) at 1000 psi (70 bar). Adjustment involves up to five clockwise turns to increase the setting, with specific torque requirements for installation and locknut adjustments provided in the specifications.

Ventable, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridges are normally closed pressure regulating valves. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to regulate the pressure. They provide a vent port (port 3) that connects between the main piston and pilot stage to provide for remote control by other pilot or 2-way valves. These valves are accurate, have low pressure rise vs. flow, they are smooth and quiet, and are moderately fast.
- A remote pilot relief on port 3 (vent) will control the valve below its own setting.
- Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits. If used in cross port relief circuits, consider spool leakage.
- Main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
- Not suitable for use in load holding applications due to spool leakage.
- Back pressure on the tank port (port 2) is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
- Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
