The Sun Hydraulics RVCSLCV (RVCSLCV) is a ventable, pilot-operated, balanced poppet relief cartridge designed for precise pressure regulation in hydraulic systems. This valve is normally closed and begins to open when the pressure at inlet port 1 reaches the set threshold, directing flow to tank port 2 to maintain regulated pressure. It features a vent port (port 3) that allows for remote control via other pilot or two-way valves. Known for its accuracy and low-pressure rise versus flow characteristics, this valve operates smoothly and quietly with moderate speed. The internal modulation of the cartridge provides immunity to cavitation-related issues such as noise and manifold erosion. The RVCSLCV is compatible with phosphate ester fluids when equipped with EPDM seals; however, exposure to petroleum-based fluids can damage these seals. It can handle maximum pressure at port 2, making it suitable for cross-port relief circuits. The valve's setting can be controlled remotely through a pilot relief on the vent port, ensuring performance stability even under varying oil temperatures and contamination levels. The main stage orifice is safeguarded by a 150-micron stainless steel screen, making it ideal for load-holding applications. With Sun's floating style construction, this cartridge minimizes risks of internal part binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. It accommodates a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and supports a capacity of up to 15 gpm (60 L/min). The RVCSLCV features an adjustment range facilitated by an internal hex screw and locknut, ensuring easy customization of settings. This robust design makes it reliable in demanding hydraulic applications requiring precise pressure control.

Ventable, pilot-operated, balanced-poppet relief cartridges are normally closed pressure regulating valves. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to regulate the pressure. They provide a vent port (port 3) that connects between the main piston and pilot stage to provide for remote control by other pilot or 2-way valves. These valves are accurate, have low pressure rise vs. flow, they are smooth and quiet, and are moderately fast.
- Because the modulating occurs inside the cartridge, these valves are immune to most of the problems associated with cavitation, namely noise and manifold erosion.
- Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits.
- A remote pilot relief on port 3 (vent) will control the valve below its own setting.
- Valve is relatively insensitive to varying oil temperatures and oil borne contamination.
- Main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
- Suitable for use in load holding applications.
- Back pressure on the tank port (port 2) is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
