The Sun Hydraulics RVCSKAV (Material Number: RVCSKAV) is a ventable, pilot-operated, balanced poppet relief cartridge designed for precise pressure regulation in hydraulic systems. This normally closed valve begins to open when the pressure at the inlet port reaches the preset level, allowing flow to the tank port to maintain desired pressure levels. It features a vent port that facilitates remote control by other pilot or two-way valves, providing flexibility and control in complex systems. Known for its accuracy and low pressure rise versus flow, this valve operates smoothly and quietly with moderate speed. The internal modulation minimizes issues related to cavitation such as noise and erosion. The RVCSKAV is equipped with EPDM seals, making it suitable for systems using phosphate ester fluids while being incompatible with petroleum-based fluids. It can handle maximum pressure at port 2 and is ideal for cross-port relief circuits. The valve's design allows it to be relatively unaffected by changes in oil temperature or contamination, ensuring reliable performance under varying conditions. The main stage orifice is protected by a 150-micron stainless steel screen, enhancing durability. This cartridge is suitable for load-holding applications due to its ability to manage back pressure on the tank port directly proportional to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. Its construction incorporates Sun's floating style design, which reduces the risk of internal part binding from excessive torque or machining variations during installation. With a capacity of 15 gpm (60 L/min) and maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar), this valve provides robust performance across various applications while maintaining minimal leakage rates upon reseat.

Ventable, pilot-operated, balanced-poppet relief cartridges are normally closed pressure regulating valves. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to regulate the pressure. They provide a vent port (port 3) that connects between the main piston and pilot stage to provide for remote control by other pilot or 2-way valves. These valves are accurate, have low pressure rise vs. flow, they are smooth and quiet, and are moderately fast.
- Because the modulating occurs inside the cartridge, these valves are immune to most of the problems associated with cavitation, namely noise and manifold erosion.
- Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits.
- A remote pilot relief on port 3 (vent) will control the valve below its own setting.
- Valve is relatively insensitive to varying oil temperatures and oil borne contamination.
- Main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
- Suitable for use in load holding applications.
- Back pressure on the tank port (port 2) is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
