The Sun Hydraulics RVCANYN (RVCANYN) is a ventable, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed for pressure regulation. This valve remains normally closed until the inlet port pressure reaches the preset level, at which point it opens to the tank port, throttling flow to maintain the desired pressure. It features a vent port that allows for remote control via other pilot or two-way valves. The RVCANYN is known for its accuracy and smooth operation with low pressure rise relative to flow and moderate response speed. It is equipped with a 150-micron stainless steel screen protecting the main stage orifice but is not suitable for load-holding applications due to spool leakage. The valve can handle maximum pressure at port 2 and is appropriate for use in cross-port relief circuits, though spool leakage should be considered in such applications. Backpressure on the tank port directly adds to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are intended for systems using phosphate ester fluids; exposure to petroleum-based fluids can damage these seals. The floating style construction minimizes risks of internal binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. Specifications include a capacity of 15 gpm (60 L/min), a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar), and typical response time of 10 ms. The valve allows adjustment via an internal hex screw, with specific torque settings required for installation and locknut adjustments. The model weight is .40 lb (0.20 kg), and it comes with a Viton seal kit option (990011006).

Ventable, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridges are normally closed pressure regulating valves. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to regulate the pressure. They provide a vent port (port 3) that connects between the main piston and pilot stage to provide for remote control by other pilot or 2-way valves. These valves are accurate, have low pressure rise vs. flow, they are smooth and quiet, and are moderately fast.
- A remote pilot relief on port 3 (vent) will control the valve below its own setting.
- Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits. If used in cross port relief circuits, consider spool leakage.
- Main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
- Not suitable for use in load holding applications due to spool leakage.
- Back pressure on the tank port (port 2) is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
- Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
