The Sun Hydraulics RVCACGV (RVCACGV) is a ventable, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed to regulate pressure in hydraulic systems. This normally closed valve opens to the tank port when the inlet pressure reaches its set point, allowing flow throttling to maintain the desired pressure level. It features a vent port for remote control by other pilot or 2-way valves and is known for its accuracy, low pressure rise versus flow, smooth operation, and moderate speed. The valve accepts maximum pressure at port 2 and is suitable for cross port relief circuits; however, spool leakage should be considered in such applications. It includes a main stage orifice protected by a 150-micron stainless steel screen but is not recommended for load-holding applications due to potential leakage. The cartridge's back pressure on the tank port directly influences the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. Configured with EPDM seals, it is compatible with systems using phosphate ester fluids but not with petroleum-based fluids. The Sun floating style construction minimizes internal part binding due to installation torque or machining variations. With a cavity size of T-11A Series 1 and a capacity of 15 gpm (60 L/min), this valve operates at a maximum pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). Its control pilot flow ranges from 7 to 10 in\u00b3/min (0.11 to 0.16 L/min), with typical response times around 10 ms. Maximum leakage at specified conditions is limited to 2 in\u00b3/min (30 cc/min). Installation requires specific torque settings and adjustments via internal hex screws and locknuts. The product weighs approximately 0.40 lb (0.20 kg) and comes with an optional Viton seal kit for enhanced compatibility with certain fluid types.

Ventable, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridges are normally closed pressure regulating valves. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to regulate the pressure. They provide a vent port (port 3) that connects between the main piston and pilot stage to provide for remote control by other pilot or 2-way valves. These valves are accurate, have low pressure rise vs. flow, they are smooth and quiet, and are moderately fast.
- A remote pilot relief on port 3 (vent) will control the valve below its own setting.
- Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits. If used in cross port relief circuits, consider spool leakage.
- Main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
- Not suitable for use in load holding applications due to spool leakage.
- Back pressure on the tank port (port 2) is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
- Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
