The Sun Hydraulics RVCACEV (RVCACEV) is a ventable, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed for pressure regulation. This normally closed valve begins to open to tank port 2 when the inlet pressure at port 1 reaches the set value, effectively throttling flow to maintain the desired pressure level. It features a vent port (port 3) that allows for remote control via other pilot or two-way valves. Known for its accuracy and low pressure rise relative to flow, this valve operates smoothly and quietly with moderate speed. The RVCACEV includes a remote pilot relief on port 3 vent, enabling control below its own setting. It can handle maximum pressure at port 2 and is suitable for cross-port relief circuits, though spool leakage should be considered in such applications. The main stage orifice is safeguarded by a 150-micron stainless steel screen; however, this valve is not recommended for load-holding applications due to potential spool leakage. Backpressure on tank port 2 adds directly to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. Cartridges with EPDM seals are compatible with systems using phosphate ester fluids but may suffer damage if exposed to petroleum-based fluids or lubricants. The Sun floating style construction minimizes internal part binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations in cavity/cartridge setups. This Series 1 cartridge fits a T-11A cavity and has a capacity of up to 15 gpm (60 L/min). It operates under a maximum pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) with typical response times around 10 ms. The valve's adjustment involves clockwise turns with specific torque requirements for installation and locknut adjustments, ensuring precise control over settings and performance consistency.

Ventable, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridges are normally closed pressure regulating valves. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to regulate the pressure. They provide a vent port (port 3) that connects between the main piston and pilot stage to provide for remote control by other pilot or 2-way valves. These valves are accurate, have low pressure rise vs. flow, they are smooth and quiet, and are moderately fast.

  • A remote pilot relief on port 3 (vent) will control the valve below its own setting.
  • Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits. If used in cross port relief circuits, consider spool leakage.
  • Main stage orifice is protected by a 150 micron stainless steel screen.
  • Not suitable for use in load holding applications due to spool leakage.
  • Back pressure on the tank port (port 2) is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
