The Sun Hydraulics RQGBWQV (RQGBWQV) is a kickdown relief cartridge designed to function similarly to a circuit breaker in hydraulic systems. This valve is engineered to open completely and remain open when the pressure at inlet port 1 surpasses the pre-set threshold, thereby creating an unrestricted flow path from port 1 to tank port 2. The valve remains open as long as the pressure at port 1 exceeds that of port 2. To reset, the flow from port 1 to port 2 must stop, and the pressure at port 2 should be equal to or greater than that at port 1. It is important to note that this valve is not suitable for load-holding applications and should ideally be used on the actuator side of a system. If applied on the pump side, pump flow must cease for resetting. The RQGBWQV features a main stage orifice protected by a 150-micron stainless steel screen and incorporates Sun\u2019s floating style construction to minimize internal binding due to excessive torque or machining variations. This cartridge valve can handle up to a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) with a typical response time of 25 milliseconds. It has an impressive capacity of up to 50 gpm (200 L/min), making it suitable for high-flow applications. For installation, it requires a torque between 45-50 lbf\u00b7ft (61-68 Nm) and features an adjustment screw with an internal hex size of 5/32 inches (4 mm). The locknut requires a torque range of 80-90 lbf\u00b7in (9-10 Nm). Additionally, back pressure on tank port 2 adds directly to the valve setting at a ratio of one-to-one. The corrosion-resistant design makes it ideal for use in challenging environments, with options available for stainless steel or zinc-nickel plated components identified by specific model code suffixes.

Kick-down relief cartridges act similar to a circuit breaker in an electrical system. The valves will kick completely open and remain open once the pressure at the inlet (port 1) exceeds the valve settting, creating an unrestricted flow path from port 1 to tank (port 2). The valve remains open as long as the pressure at port 1 exceeds the pressure at port 2. To reset the valve, flow from port 1 to port 2 must cease and pressure at port 2 must be equal to or greater than the pressure at port 1.

  • All 2-port relief cartridges (except pilot reliefs) are physically and functionally interchangeable (same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size).
