The Sun Hydraulics RPKEKQV (RPKEKQV) is a fast-acting, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients. This normally closed, pressure-limiting valve opens rapidly when the inlet port pressure reaches the valve's setting, directing flow to the tank port to limit further pressure rise. It features low pressure rise versus flow and rapid response time, making it suitable for applications where quick opening and closing are prioritized over smoothness. The cartridge is interchangeable with other 2-port relief cartridges of the same frame size and flow path, except for pilot reliefs. It can handle maximum pressure at port 2, making it suitable for cross-port relief circuits, although spool leakage should be considered in such applications. The main stage orifice is protected by a 150-micron stainless steel screen; however, this valve is not recommended for load-holding applications due to spool leakage. Backpressure on the tank port directly adds to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. The Sun floating style construction minimizes internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations. This Series 4 valve has a capacity of 200 gpm (760 L/min) and operates at a maximum pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar).
