The Sun Hydraulics RPIEMQN (RPIEMQN) is a fast-acting, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients. This normally closed, pressure-limiting valve opens rapidly to tank port 2 when the inlet port 1 pressure reaches its set point, throttling flow to limit further pressure increase. It features a low pressure rise versus flow and responds swiftly, typically within 2 milliseconds. The valve is designed for interchangeability across all 2-port relief cartridges of the same frame size and flow path. It can handle maximum pressure at port 2, making it suitable for cross-port relief circuits; however, users should consider spool leakage in such applications. The main stage orifice is safeguarded by a 150-micron stainless steel screen, but it is not recommended for load-holding applications due to potential leakage. The back pressure on tank port 2 directly adds to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
