The Sun Hydraulics RPGEQDV (RPGEQDV) is a fast-acting, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients. These valves are normally closed and open quickly to tank port 2 when the inlet pressure at port 1 reaches the set level, effectively throttling flow to limit pressure rise. Despite their fast response time of approximately 2 milliseconds, these valves prioritize speed over smoothness. They exhibit low pressure rise versus flow characteristics and are suitable for cross-port relief circuits, though spool leakage should be considered in such applications. The main stage orifice is safeguarded by a 150-micron stainless steel screen, ensuring durability and reliability under high-pressure conditions of up to 5000 psi (350 bar). However, these cartridges are not recommended for load-holding applications due to potential spool leakage.
