The Sun Hydraulics RPGECWV (RPGECWV) is a fast-acting, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients. These normally closed, pressure-limiting valves are engineered for rapid opening and closing, prioritizing speed over smoothness. When the inlet port 1's pressure reaches the valve setting, it begins to open to tank port 2, throttling flow to manage the pressure rise effectively. The RPGECWV model features a low pressure rise versus flow and is exceptionally fast, making it ideal for applications requiring quick response times. It is physically and functionally interchangeable with other 2-port relief cartridges of the same frame size. This valve can handle maximum pressure at port 2 and is suitable for use in cross-port relief circuits; however, spool leakage should be considered in such configurations. The main stage orifice is safeguarded by a 150-micron stainless steel screen. Due to spool leakage, this model is not recommended for load-holding applications. The back pressure on tank port 2 directly adds to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. Cartridges equipped with EPDM seals are compatible with systems using phosphate ester fluids but may be damaged by petroleum-based substances.
