The Sun Hydraulics RDDAMWN (RDDAMWN) is a direct-acting relief cartridge designed to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients by operating as a pressure-limiting valve. This normally closed valve opens to the tank port when inlet pressure reaches the set threshold, effectively throttling flow to limit further pressure increase. Known for its smooth and quiet operation, this valve offers virtually zero leakage and is tolerant of dirt, making it immune to silting and ensuring rapid response times. It is physically and functionally interchangeable with other 2-port relief cartridges of the same frame size, allowing for seamless integration into existing systems. The RDDAMWN can handle maximum pressures at port 2 and is suitable for cross-port relief circuits, as well as load-holding applications. The adjust screw seals are exposed to system pressure, requiring pressure removal before adjustment can be made. Users are advised to select a spring range that places the desired relief setting toward the mid-to-high end of the range for optimal repeatability. The valve's performance remains consistent despite variations in oil temperature or contamination levels. This model incorporates Sun's floating style construction, minimizing risks associated with internal part binding due to installation torque or machining variations. It features a capacity of 25 gpm (95 L/min), with factory pressure settings established at 4 gpm (15 L/min). The maximum operating pressure is rated at 5000 psi (350 bar), with a typical response time of 2 ms. The RDDAMWN also features an adjustment mechanism that requires six clockwise turns to increase the setting, along with specific installation torque requirements for both the valve and locknut components. Notably, cartridges configured with EPDM seals are intended for use with phosphate ester fluids only.
