The Sun Hydraulics PVHDLWV (PVHDLWV) is a ventable, pilot-operated pressure reducing/relieving valve designed to maintain a consistent reduced pressure at port 1 while offering a full-flow relief function to tank port 3. The valve features a main stage orifice drilled directly into the piston, enhancing its durability for physically demanding applications. It allows for remote control via the vent port 4 using pilot or two-way valves. The valve setting at port 3 is directly additive at a 1:1 ratio and should not exceed 3000 psi (210 bar). It offers very low deadband transition between reducing and relieving modes, ensuring stable operation with low hysteresis. The maximum inlet pressure varies by adjustment range, with ranges D, E, N, and Q tested at a 2000 psi (140 bar) maximum differential between inlet and reduced pressure; ranges A, B, and H at 3000 psi (210 bar); and ranges C and W at an inlet pressure of up to 5000 psi (350 bar). If reverse free flow from reduced pressure port 1 to inlet port 2 is needed, consider adding a separate check valve as the main spool may close otherwise. The valve incorporates Sun's floating style construction to prevent internal parts from binding due to excessive installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations. It has a capacity of 40 gpm (160 L/min), with factory pressure settings established at blocked control ports. The maximum operating pressure is rated at 5000 psi (350 bar), with control pilot flow ranging from 15-20 in\u00b3/min (0.25-0.33 L/min). Installation requires specific torque settings for various components including the locknut and adjustment screw.

Ventable, pilot-operated pressure reducing/relieving valves reduce a high primary pressure at the inlet to a constant reduced pressure at port 1, with a full-flow relief function from port 1 to tank (port 3). The vent port (port 4) can be used as a means for remote control by pilot or 2-way valves.
- These valves have the main stage orifice drilled into the piston rather than a staked-in orifice. This allows the valve to survive physically demanding applications.
- Pressure at port 3 is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio and should not exceed 3000 psi (210 bar).
- Pilot operated valves exhibit very low dead-band transition between reducing and relieving modes.
- Recommended maximum inlet pressure is determined by the adjustment range. Ranges D, E, N, and Q are tested with a 2000 psi (140 bar) maximum differential between inlet and reduced pressure. Ranges A, B, and H are tested with a 3000 psi (210 bar) maximum differential between inlet and reduced pressure. Ranges C and W are tested with 5000 psi (350 bar) of inlet pressure.
- Pilot operated valves exhibit exceptionally flat pressure/flow characteristics, are very stable and have low hysteresis.
- Full reverse flow from reduced pressure (port 1) to inlet (port 2) may cause the main spool to close. If reverse free flow is required in the circuit, consider adding a separate check valve to the circuit.
- By controlling the pressure at the vent (port 4), the effective setting of the valve can be controlled below the nominal valve setting.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
