The Sun Hydraulics PVHDCEV (Material Number: PVHDCEV) is a ventable, pilot-operated pressure reducing/relieving valve that effectively reduces a high primary pressure at the inlet to a consistent reduced pressure at port 1, while offering a full-flow relief function from port 1 to tank port 3. The vent port (port 4) provides an option for remote control via pilot or two-way valves. This valve's design includes the main stage orifice drilled into the piston, enhancing durability for demanding applications. It maintains very low deadband transitions between reducing and relieving modes and exhibits exceptionally flat pressure-flow characteristics with high stability and low hysteresis. The valve can handle pressures at port 3 up to 3000 psi (210 bar), which are directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. The recommended maximum inlet pressure is dependent on the adjustment range, with ranges D, E, N, and Q tested at a maximum differential of 2000 psi (140 bar), while ranges A, B, and H are tested with a maximum differential of 3000 psi (210 bar). Ranges C and W can handle up to 5000 psi (350 bar) inlet pressure. It features Sun's floating style construction to minimize internal part binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations in cavity/cartridge. Additionally, it incorporates full reverse flow capability from reduced pressure port 1 to inlet port 2 but may require an external check valve if reverse free flow is needed in the circuit. The effective setting of this valve can be controlled below its nominal setting by adjusting the pressure at vent port 4. This model has a factory-established maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar), with control pilot flow ranging from 15-20 in\u00b3/min (0.25-0.33 L/min).

Ventable, pilot-operated pressure reducing/relieving valves reduce a high primary pressure at the inlet to a constant reduced pressure at port 1, with a full-flow relief function from port 1 to tank (port 3). The vent port (port 4) can be used as a means for remote control by pilot or 2-way valves.
- These valves have the main stage orifice drilled into the piston rather than a staked-in orifice. This allows the valve to survive physically demanding applications.
- Pressure at port 3 is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio and should not exceed 3000 psi (210 bar).
- Pilot operated valves exhibit very low dead-band transition between reducing and relieving modes.
- Recommended maximum inlet pressure is determined by the adjustment range. Ranges D, E, N, and Q are tested with a 2000 psi (140 bar) maximum differential between inlet and reduced pressure. Ranges A, B, and H are tested with a 3000 psi (210 bar) maximum differential between inlet and reduced pressure. Ranges C and W are tested with 5000 psi (350 bar) of inlet pressure.
- Pilot operated valves exhibit exceptionally flat pressure/flow characteristics, are very stable and have low hysteresis.
- Full reverse flow from reduced pressure (port 1) to inlet (port 2) may cause the main spool to close. If reverse free flow is required in the circuit, consider adding a separate check valve to the circuit.
- By controlling the pressure at the vent (port 4), the effective setting of the valve can be controlled below the nominal valve setting.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
