The Sun Hydraulics PVDBLHV (PVDBLHV) is a versatile ventable, pilot-operated pressure reducing/relieving valve designed to regulate and maintain a consistent reduced pressure at port 1 while offering a full-flow relief function from port 1 to tank port 3. This valve features a vent port (port 4) that allows for remote control via pilot or two-way valves, making it adaptable for various hydraulic applications. The pressure at port 3 can be directly added to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio, with a maximum limit of 3000 psi (210 bar). The valve's design ensures low deadband transition between reducing and relieving modes, offering stability and low hysteresis. The PVDBLHV is constructed with Sun's floating style design to minimize internal part binding from excessive installation torque or machining variations. It operates efficiently within recommended maximum inlet pressures determined by its adjustment range, with specific ranges such as D, E, N, and Q tested up to a differential of 2000 psi (140 bar), while ranges A, B, and H are tested up to 3000 psi (210 bar), and ranges C and W handle up to 5000 psi (350 bar). This valve accommodates full reverse flow from reduced pressure port 1 to inlet port 2; however, if reverse free flow is needed in the circuit, adding a separate check valve is advised. The PVDBLHV offers exceptional flat pressure-flow characteristics and stability. The valve requires an installation torque of 30-35 lbf ft (41-47 Nm) and features adjustable settings controlled by an internal hex screw. For maintenance or replacement needs, the seal kit cartridge Viton: 990021006 is available. This robust component is ideal for maintaining optimal hydraulic system performance in various applications requiring precise pressure control.

Ventable, pilot-operated pressure reducing/relieving valves reduce a high primary pressure at the inlet to a constant reduced pressure at port 1, with a full-flow relief function from port 1 to tank (port 3). The vent port (port 4) can be used as a means for remote control by pilot or 2-way valves.

  • Pressure at port 3 is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio and should not exceed 3000 psi (210 bar).
  • Full reverse flow from reduced pressure (port 1) to inlet (port 2) may cause the main spool to close. If reverse free flow is required in the circuit, consider adding a separate check valve to the circuit.
  • Pilot operated valves exhibit very low dead-band transition between reducing and relieving modes.
  • Recommended maximum inlet pressure is determined by the adjustment range. Ranges D, E, N, and Q are tested with a 2000 psi (140 bar) maximum differential between inlet and reduced pressure. Ranges A, B, and H are tested with a 3000 psi (210 bar) maximum differential between inlet and reduced pressure. Ranges C and W are tested with 5000 psi (350 bar) of inlet pressure.
