The Sun Hydraulics PRJRKDN (PRJRKDN) is a direct-acting pressure reducing valve designed to reduce a high primary pressure at inlet port 2 to a stable, constant reduced pressure at port 1. This valve features a damped construction that ensures stable operation under high reduced pressure conditions. It is important to note that this model does not have relieving capabilities and should not be used in deadheaded applications, as the pressure on the reduced side can rise significantly if there is low leakage in the circuit. The PRJRKDN can serve as an effective replacement for an LPC valve when a normally open, restrictive compensating element with a higher pressure drop across an orifice is needed. The valve allows full reverse flow from port 1 to port 2, although this may cause the main spool to close. To accommodate reverse free flow requirements, it is advisable to add a separate check valve in the circuit. Tested with an inlet pressure of up to 5000 psi (350 bar), it is suitable for accumulator circuits due to its minimal pilot control flow leakage. The direct-operated design provides superior dynamic response compared to equivalent pilot-operated models. The PRJRKDN incorporates Sun's floating style construction, minimizing internal part binding risks due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. Key specifications include a cavity T-19A series with a capacity of 80 gpm (320 L/min), maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar), and factory-established pressure settings at 2 in/min (30 cc/min). Direct-acting, pressure reducing valves reduce a high primary pressure at the inlet (port 2) to a constant reduced pressure at port 1. These valves incorporate a damped construction for stable operation allowing the use of high reduced pressure.

  • Note: This valve has no relieving capability. It should not be used in a dead-headed application. If the reduced pressure side of the circuit has very low leakage the pressure may rise significantly. The pressure rise will vary from valve to valve.
  • This type of valve, PR*R, is a good replacement for an LP*C as a normally open, restrictive compensating element if a higher pressure drop across an orifice is needed.
  • Full reverse flow from reduced pressure (port 1) to inlet (port 2) may cause the main spool to close. If reverse free flow is required in the circuit, consider adding a separate check valve to the circuit.
  • All spring ranges are tested for correct operation with 5000 psi (350 bar) inlet pressure.
