The Sun Hydraulics PRHRKWV (PRHRKWV) is a direct-acting pressure reducing valve designed to reduce a high primary pressure at the inlet port 2 to a constant reduced pressure at port 1. This valve features a damped construction for stable operation, allowing the use of high reduced pressure. Notably, it has no relieving capability and should not be used in deadheaded applications. If the reduced pressure side of the circuit has very low leakage, there may be significant pressure rise. It serves as an effective replacement for an LPC as a normally open, restrictive compensating element when a higher pressure drop across an orifice is required. The valve can handle full reverse flow from reduced pressure port 1 to inlet port 2, but this may cause the main spool to close; thus, adding a separate check valve might be necessary if reverse free flow is needed in the circuit. The PRHRKWV model is suitable for accumulator circuits due to its lack of pilot control flow, which results in reduced secondary circuit leakage. Its direct-operated design offers superior dynamic response compared to equivalent pilot-operated models.
