The Sun Hydraulics NFCCYIV (NFCCYIV) is a needle valve designed for precise flow regulation in hydraulic systems. This fully adjustable orifice valve allows for infinite adjustment from completely closed to the maximum orifice diameter, providing flexibility in controlling flow rates. It is important to note that this valve is not pressure compensated, which means the flow regulation is directly proportional to the square root of the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2. The NFCCYIV model features a balanced adjustment mechanism, ensuring easy adjustments even under high-pressure conditions, and its sharp-edged orifice design minimizes flow variations due to viscosity changes. The valve's bidirectional flow path offers versatility in application, with a recommended direction from port 1 to port 2, allowing it to be interchangeable with other flow control devices. When the adjustment mechanism is turned to the shutoff position, there is no leakage, ensuring reliable performance. The cartridge design includes EPDM seals suitable for systems using phosphate ester fluids; however, these seals are incompatible with petroleum-based fluids. The NFCCYIV model fits into a T-13A cavity and belongs to Series 1 with a capacity of 7 gpm (28 L/min). It can handle a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). The valve's physical specifications include a hex size of 7/8 inch (22.2 mm) and an installation torque range of 30-35 lbf ft (41-47 Nm). For adjustments, it features an internal hex size of 5/32 inch (4 mm) and a locknut hex size of 9/16 inch (15 mm), requiring a locknut torque between 80-90 lbf in (9-10 Nm). The model weighs approximately .30 lb (.15 kg) and utilizes Viton seal kits for maintenance or replacement needs.

Needle valves are fully adjustable orifices used to regulate flow. They are infinitely adjustable from fully closed up to the maximum orifice diameter. They are not pressure compensated and may be used as flow controls or as shutoff valves.

  • All 2-port flow control cartridges are physically and functionally interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size). However, cartridge extension dimensions from the mounting surface may vary.
  • Because needle valves are non-compensating devices, the fixed orifice size will regulate flow through the valve in proportion to the square root of the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2.
  • A balanced adjustment mechanism allows for easy adjustment even at high pressures.
  • The sharp-edged orifice design minimizes flow variations due to viscosity changes.
  • The flow path through this valve is bi-directional. The preferred path is port 1 to 2, to allow interchangeability with other flow controls.
  • There is no leakage when the adjustment mechanism is turned to the shut-off position.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
