The Sun Hydraulics NCEBYDN (Material Number: NCEBYDN) is a needle valve with a reverse-flow check, designed to regulate flow through an infinitely adjustable orifice. This valve is capable of adjusting from fully closed to the maximum orifice diameter, allowing for precise flow control. It features an integral high-capacity check valve that enables unrestricted flow from port 2 to port 1 but is not pressure compensated. The NCEBYDN model is part of the 2-port flow control cartridge series, which are physically and functionally interchangeable within the same frame size, although cartridge extension dimensions may vary based on installation. This needle valve uses a balanced adjustment mechanism, facilitating easy adjustments even under high pressure conditions. Its sharp-edged orifice design reduces flow variations due to viscosity changes, making it reliable across different fluid conditions. The Sun floating style construction minimizes internal part binding risks due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. The NCEBYDN model has a capacity of 12 gpm (45 L/min) and can operate at a maximum pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). It allows for up to 55 counterclockwise turns from fully closed to fully open positions. The valve hex size is 1 1/8 inches (28.6 mm), with an installation torque range of 45 - 50 lbf ft (61 - 68 Nm). The locknut requires a torque of 80 - 90 lbf in (9 - 10 Nm), and the adjustment screw uses an internal hex size of 5/32 inches (4 mm). Cartridges with EPDM seals are suitable for systems using phosphate ester fluids but should avoid petroleum-based fluids to prevent seal damage. The model weighs approximately .40 lb (.20 kg) and includes a Viton seal kit option (990203006).

Needle valves with reverse-flow check are fully adjustable orifices used to regulate flow. They are infinitely adjustable from fully closed up to the maximum orifice diameter. An integral high-capacity check valve provides unrestricted flow from port 2 to port 1. They are not pressure compensated.
- All 2-port flow control cartridges are physically and functionally interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size). However, cartridge extension dimensions from the mounting surface may vary.
- Because needle valves are non-compensating devices, the fixed orifice size will regulate flow through the valve in proportion to the square root of the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2.
- A balanced adjustment mechanism allows for easy adjustment even at high pressures.
- The sharp-edged orifice design minimizes flow variations due to viscosity changes.
- Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
