The Sun Hydraulics FRDCLIV (FRDCLIV) is a specialized flow control valve designed for applications requiring precise control in bypass mode only. This valve is a modification of the FRDA model, aimed at enhancing system stability by ensuring that priority flow is not pressure compensated if the bypass pressure exceeds that at the priority port. It features a sharp-edged orifice design to minimize flow variations due to changes in viscosity and includes a tunable adjustment control option, allowing up to 25% variation from the nominal factory preset flow. The adjustment is achieved through three turns of the adjust screw, where turning clockwise increases the flow. This valve operates within a maximum pressure limit of 3000 psi (210 bar) at port 3 and has a capacity of 12 gpm (45 L/min). It can handle a maximum input flow of 30 gpm (120 L/min) and operates with a maximum pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). This valve is a modification of an FRDA. It controls flow in the bypass mode only. If the bypass pressure exceeds the pressure at the priority port the priority flow will no longer be pressure compensated. This modification was done in an attempt to improve system stability in specific cases.

  • Customer must specify a flow rating. Factory set flow ratings are within +/- 10% of the requested setting.
  • Maximum pressure at port 3 should be limited to 3000 psi (210 bar).
  • Bypass flow is not available until priority flow requirements are satisfied.
