The Sun Hydraulics FRDCKIV (FRDCKIV) is a specialized hydraulic valve designed to control flow in the bypass mode only, enhancing system stability in certain applications. This valve is a modification of the FRDA model and is specifically engineered to ensure that if the bypass pressure exceeds the pressure at the priority port, the priority flow will no longer be pressure compensated. Customers must specify a flow rating, with factory set flow ratings accurate within 10% of the requested setting. The valve features a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and can handle a maximum input flow of 30 gpm (120 L/min). It incorporates a sharp-edged orifice design that minimizes flow variations due to viscosity changes and includes a tunable adjustment control option that allows up to a 25% variation from the nominal factory preset flow, adjustable via three turns of an adjust screw. The Sun floating style construction helps minimize internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque or cavity/cartridge machining variations. The valve fits into a T-2A cavity and has a capacity of 12 gpm (45 L/min). This valve is a modification of an FRDA. It controls flow in the bypass mode only. If the bypass pressure exceeds the pressure at the priority port the priority flow will no longer be pressure compensated. This modification was done in an attempt to improve system stability in specific cases.

  • Customer must specify a flow rating. Factory set flow ratings are within +/- 10% of the requested setting.
  • Maximum pressure at port 3 should be limited to 3000 psi (210 bar).
  • Bypass flow is not available until priority flow requirements are satisfied.
