The Sun Hydraulics FQGAXAN (FQGAXAN) is a flow fuse cartridge designed to maintain the position of a hydraulic actuator in the event of a hose or line break. This spool-type valve allows fluid flow to and from the actuator but closes instantly if the flow exceeds the factory-set limit, ensuring safety by preventing uncontrolled actuator movement. The valve is highly sensitive to transient flows above its set rate, so it must be installed with careful consideration of system dynamics. Customers must specify a flow rating when ordering, as factory-set ratings are within 10% of the requested setting. The valve closes when flow from port 1 to port 2 surpasses its setting and resets when pressures at both ports equalize. It is recommended that the flow setting be at least 25% above maximum normal system flow to avoid false tripping.
