The Sun Hydraulics FQBAXAV (FQBAXAV) is a flow fuse cartridge designed to maintain the position of a hydraulic actuator in the event of a hose or line break. This valve allows fluid to flow to and from the actuator under normal conditions but instantly closes if the flow exceeds a pre-set threshold, effectively preventing uncontrolled movement. It is crucial to specify a flow rating when ordering, as factory settings are within 15% of the requested specification. The valve closes when the flow from port 1 to port 2 surpasses its setting and resets when pressures at both ports equalize. To ensure proper function, the flow setting should be at least 25% above maximum normal system flow. This spool-type valve may experience some leakage, leading to potential actuator drift. It features Sun's floating style construction, which minimizes internal part binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. The FQBAXAV fits into cavity T-162A and belongs to series 0, with a capacity of 2.25 gpm (8.5 L/min) and can handle pressures up to 5000 psi (350 bar). Maximum valve leakage at 110 SUS (24 cSt) is rated at 1 in\u00b3/min at 1000 psi (15 cc/min at 70 bar). The hex size for installation is 3/4 inch (19.1 mm), requiring an installation torque between 20 - 25 lbf ft (27 - 34 Nm). A Viton seal kit is available for this cartridge under part number 990162006. This product should not be used for oil loss prevention or fire protection but rather as a safety measure against hose failure-induced uncontrolled actuator movement. Proper selection and tuning based on system specifications are essential for optimal performance without false tripping during transient flows.

Flow fuse cartridges are used to maintain the position of a hydraulic actuator in the event of a hose or line break. The valve allows flow to and from the actuator but closes instantly if flow from the actuator exceeds the setting of the valve. NOTE: Because the valve responds so rapidly, it is sensitive to any transient flow above the valve setting.
- Customer must specify a flow rating. Factory set flow ratings are within +/- 15% of the requested setting.
- Valve closes when flow from port 1 to port 2 exceeds the setting of the valve. Valve resets when pressures at port 1 and port 2 are equal.
- Flow setting should be at least 25% above maximum normal system flow. Customer must specify flow when ordering valve.
- These are spool type valves, therefore there is leakage. Some actuator drift may occur.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
