The Sun Hydraulics FPHKMEN724 (FPHKMEN724) is a sophisticated pilot-operated, normally closed, electroproportional throttle valve with a reverse free flow check feature. This valve is designed to handle pressures up to 5000 psi and supports metered flow from port 1 to port 2, while allowing reverse free flow from port 2 to port 1. The valve's coil can be interchanged with other solenoid-operated valves from Sun Hydraulics and can be mounted in either direction on the tube, offering flexibility in installation. For optimal functionality, it is recommended to use an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither between 100-250 Hz. The FPHKMEN724 also includes multiple manual override options, such as the momentary twist override option E, which allows manual shifting by twisting clockwise 90 degrees. It features Sun's floating style construction that reduces the risk of internal component binding due to excessive torque or machining variations in the cavity-cartridge interface. The valve fits into a T16A cavity, belongs to Series 3, and has a capacity of up to 60 gpm (240 L/min). The maximum leakage at 110 SUS (24 cSt) is limited to 10 drops/min at 5000 psi (0.7 cc/min at 350 bar). Manual override requires a force of approximately 5 lbs/1000 psi at Port 1 (33 N/100 bar). With dimensions including a solenoid tube diameter of .75 inches (19 mm) and a hex size of 1-1/4 inches (31.8 mm), the valve installation torque ranges from 150-160 lbf-ft (203-217 Nm). The model weighs around 1.50 lb (0.70 kg), increasing slightly when equipped with a coil. Seal kits for cartridges are available in Viton material under part number: Viton:990016006, while seal and nut kits for coils are available as Viton:990770006.

This valve is a pilot operated, normally closed, electro-proportional throttle with reverse free flow check. Energizing the coil generates an opening force on the pilot stage which vents the main stage poppet to open proportionally. Metered flow is from port 1 to port 2 with reverse free flow from port 2 to port 1.
- Capable of operating with pressures up to 5000 psi.
- Coils are interchangeable with Sun's other full flow, solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
- This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See Option Configuration.
- For optimum performance, an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither should be used. Dither should be adjustable between 100 - 250 Hz.
- The momentary/twist override option "E" allows the operator to shift the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise 90 degrees.
- Depending on circuit requirements, a reverse free flow check bypassing the compensator may be needed when using the FPHK with an external compensator.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
