The Sun Hydraulics FPHKEEN224 (FPHKEEN224) is a pilot-operated, normally closed, electroproportional throttle valve featuring a reverse free flow check. This sophisticated valve is designed to function by energizing the coil, which generates an opening force on the pilot stage, thereby venting the main stage poppet to open proportionally. It offers metered flow from port 1 to port 2 and reverse free flow from port 2 to port 1. The valve is capable of operating under pressures up to 5000 psi and has a capacity of handling flow rates up to 60 gpm (240 L/min). The FPHKEEN224 incorporates interchangeable coils with other full-flow solenoid-operated valves from Sun Hydraulics and can be mounted in either direction on the tube. For optimal performance, it is recommended to use an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither between 100-250 Hz. The valve also includes several manual override options, such as the momentary-twist override (option E), which allows for manual shifting by twisting the override clockwise by 90 degrees. With its floating style construction, this cartridge minimizes potential binding of internal parts due to excessive installation torque or machining variations in the cavity/cartridge. It fits into a T16A cavity and requires an installation torque of 150-160 lbf ft (203-217 Nm). The valve's deadband is nominally set at 25% of input, and it has a maximum leakage rate of 10 drops/min at 5000 psi (0.7 cc/min at 350 bar). Additionally, it weighs approximately 1.50 lb without the coil and around 2.00 lb with it installed.
