The Sun Hydraulics FPHKECN824N (FPHKECN824N) is a pilot-operated, normally closed, electroproportional throttle valve with a reverse free flow check feature. This valve is engineered to manage pressures up to 5000 psi, making it suitable for high-pressure applications. It operates by energizing the coil to generate an opening force on the pilot stage, which then vents the main stage poppet to open proportionally. The metered flow is directed from port 1 to port 2, while allowing reverse free flow from port 2 to port 1. One of the key features of this valve is its compatibility with interchangeable coils from Sun's range of full-flow solenoid-operated valves. These coils can be mounted on the tube in either direction, offering flexibility in installation. The valve includes several manual override options, including a momentary twist override that allows manual shifting by twisting clockwise 90 degrees. For optimal performance, it is recommended to use an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither between 100 and 250 Hz. Additionally, this cartridge incorporates Sun's floating style construction to minimize binding risks due to excessive installation torque or variations in cavity/cartridge machining. It fits into a T16A cavity and belongs to series 3 with a capacity of up to 60 gpm (240 L/min). The maximum valve leakage at 110 SUS (24 cSt) is minimal at just 10 drops/min at 5000 psi (0.7 cc/min at 350 bar). The manual override force requirement is relatively low at 5 lbs/1000 psi for Port 1 (33 N/100 bar). With these capabilities and features, the FPHKECN824N serves as a reliable component for precise fluid control in demanding hydraulic systems.

- Capable of operating with pressures up to 5000 psi.
- Coils are interchangeable with Sun's other full flow, solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
- This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See Option Configuration.
- For optimum performance, an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither should be used. Dither should be adjustable between 100 - 250 Hz.
- The momentary/twist override option "E" allows the operator to shift the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise 90 degrees.
- Depending on circuit requirements, a reverse free flow check bypassing the compensator may be needed when using the FPHK with an external compensator.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
