The Sun Hydraulics FPCHTCN624 (FPCHTCN624) is a sophisticated electroproportional throttle valve designed for precision flow control in hydraulic systems. This normally open valve is spring-biased open and utilizes an electrical coil to generate a closing force proportional to the command current, effectively balancing against spring and flow forces to create a metering orifice. The valve's design allows for significant self-compensation in the 1 to 2 flow direction and provides proportional control in the 2 to 1 direction when paired with an external compensator. It supports full reverse flow from 2 to 1 without command under any conditions, even without a compensator. This model offers configurations in both normally open and closed states, with three capacity ranges available. It operates efficiently at pressures up to 5000 psi and maintains low leakage levels when closed. The interchangeable coils can be mounted bidirectionally on the solenoid tube, providing flexibility in installation. For enhanced performance, it is recommended to use an amplifier with current sensing capabilities and adjustable dither between 100-250 Hz. The FPCHTCN624 also features various manual override options, including no manual override if desired. Models equipped with D or L control offer temporary actuation through a detent mechanism, while option E allows momentary twisting of the manual override by 90 degrees for operation. The valve incorporates Sun's floating style construction, reducing the risk of internal part binding due to excessive torque or machining variations. Key specifications include a T13A cavity, Series 1 designation, a capacity of 7 gpm (28 L/min), minimal leakage at high viscosity levels, and specific manual override requirements. The valve's hex size is .78 inches (22.2 mm), with an installation torque range of 30-35 lbf ft (41-47 Nm). Seal kits are available for both cartridge and coil components using Viton materials.

This valve is a normally-open, electro-proportional throttle. The valve is spring biased open. Energizing the coil generates an closing force on the spool proportional to the command current and this force is countered by the spring and flow forces. This force balance creates a metering orifice whose effective size is proportional to the current. The valve exhibits a large degree of self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and will provide proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with the addition of an external compensator. Full reverse flow (2 to 1) with no command in the 2 to 1 direction is possible without a compensator under all conditions.
- Available in either a normally open or normally closed configuration with three different capacity ranges.
- Capable of operating with pressures up to 5000 psi.
- Low leakage levels in the closed position.
- Coils are interchangeable with Sun's other full flow, solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
- This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See Option Configuration.
- For optimum performance, an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither should be used. Dither should be adjustable between 100 - 250 Hz.
- On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, E, L and T manual control assemblies have a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
- The momentary/twist override option "E" allows the operator to shift the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise 90 degrees.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
