The Sun Hydraulics FPCHTAN912N (Material Number: FPCHTAN912N) is a normally-open, electro-proportional throttle valve designed for precise flow control in hydraulic systems. The valve is spring-biased open, and when the coil is energized, it generates a closing force on the spool that is proportional to the command current. This action is balanced by the spring and flow forces, creating a metering orifice whose effective size adjusts with the current. The valve features significant self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and can provide proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with an external compensator. It allows full reverse flow from 2 to 1 without a compensator under all conditions. This versatile valve is available in either normally open or normally closed configurations and offers three different capacity ranges. It operates efficiently at pressures up to 5000 psi and maintains low leakage levels when closed. The interchangeable coils can be mounted on the tube in either direction, compatible with Sun's other solenoid-operated valves. For optimal performance, it is recommended to use an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither between 100-250 Hz. The valve incorporates Sun's floating style construction, which minimizes internal part binding due to installation torque or machining variations. Manual override options are available, including a momentary-twist override that allows temporary actuation of the valve by twisting clockwise by 90 degrees. The manual control assemblies have an approximate mechanical life expectancy of 7,000 cycles. With a cavity size of T-13A, series 1, this cartridge has a capacity of 7 gpm (28 L/min) and exhibits maximum leakage at specified conditions of up to 6 in\u00b3/min at 3000 psi (100 cc/min at 210 bar). Its compact design includes specifications such as a solenoid tube diameter of .75 inches (19 mm), valve hex size of .78 inches (22.2 mm), and installation torque ranging from 30-35 lbf\u00b7ft (41-47 Nm).

This valve is a normally-open, electro-proportional throttle. The valve is spring biased open. Energizing the coil generates an closing force on the spool proportional to the command current and this force is countered by the spring and flow forces. This force balance creates a metering orifice whose effective size is proportional to the current. The valve exhibits a large degree of self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and will provide proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with the addition of an external compensator. Full reverse flow (2 to 1) with no command in the 2 to 1 direction is possible without a compensator under all conditions.
- Available in either a normally open or normally closed configuration with three different capacity ranges.
- Capable of operating with pressures up to 5000 psi.
- Low leakage levels in the closed position.
- Coils are interchangeable with Sun's other full flow, solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
- This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See Option Configuration.
- For optimum performance, an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither should be used. Dither should be adjustable between 100 - 250 Hz.
- On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, E, L and T manual control assemblies have a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
- The momentary/twist override option "E" allows the operator to shift the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise 90 degrees.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
