The Sun Hydraulics FPCHTAN2C24V (FPCHTAN2C24V) is a normally-open, electroproportional throttle valve designed for precise flow control in hydraulic systems. This valve features a spring-biased open configuration, allowing it to generate a closing force on the spool proportional to the command current, which is countered by spring and flow forces. This balance creates a metering orifice whose effective size adjusts with the current, providing self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and enabling proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with an external compensator. The valve can handle pressures up to 5000 psi and offers low leakage levels when closed. It is compatible with Sun's interchangeable solenoid coils, which can be mounted in either direction on the tube. This cartridge valve comes with several manual override options, including temporary actuation mechanisms like detent or momentary-twist override for user flexibility. For optimal performance, it is recommended to use an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither between 100-250 Hz. The valve incorporates Sun's floating style construction to minimize internal binding due to installation torque or machining variations. With a capacity of 7 gpm (28 L/min), it ensures efficient operation while maintaining minimal leakage at maximum pressure conditions. The FPCHTAN2C24V is designed for ease of installation with a hex size of 7/8 inch and requires an installation torque between 30-35 lbf ft (41-47 Nm). Additionally, it supports various seal kits for maintenance needs, including Viton options for enhanced durability.

This valve is a normally-open, electro-proportional throttle. The valve is spring biased open. Energizing the coil generates an closing force on the spool proportional to the command current and this force is countered by the spring and flow forces. This force balance creates a metering orifice whose effective size is proportional to the current. The valve exhibits a large degree of self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and will provide proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with the addition of an external compensator. Full reverse flow (2 to 1) with no command in the 2 to 1 direction is possible without a compensator under all conditions.
- Available in either a normally open or normally closed configuration with three different capacity ranges.
- Capable of operating with pressures up to 5000 psi.
- Low leakage levels in the closed position.
- Coils are interchangeable with Sun's other full flow, solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
- This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See Option Configuration.
- For optimum performance, an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither should be used. Dither should be adjustable between 100 - 250 Hz.
- On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, E, L and T manual control assemblies have a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
- The momentary/twist override option "E" allows the operator to shift the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise 90 degrees.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
