The Sun Hydraulics FPCHMBV2F12V (FPCHMBV2F12V) is a sophisticated electro-proportional throttle valve designed for precise flow control in hydraulic systems. This normally-open valve is spring-biased to remain open, and the application of an electric current closes the valve proportionally, balancing the force against the spring and flow dynamics. It features a high degree of self-compensation in one flow direction and requires an external compensator for proportional control in the reverse direction. The design allows full reverse flow without command under all conditions. This versatile cartridge valve offers configurations in both normally open and closed states, with three capacity ranges, making it adaptable for various applications. It operates efficiently at pressures up to 5000 psi, ensuring robust performance under demanding conditions. The valve's low leakage levels when closed enhance operational efficiency and reliability. The FPCHMBV2F12V is compatible with interchangeable coils from Sun's solenoid-operated valves, providing flexibility in installation. It also offers several manual override options, including a momentary twist override that shifts the valve by twisting 90 degrees clockwise. Engineered with Sun's floating style construction, this valve minimizes internal binding risks due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. For optimal performance, it is recommended to use an amplifier with current sensing capabilities and adjustable dither settings between 100-250 Hz. With a capacity of 7 gpm (28 L/min) and requiring specific installation torque settings, this model ensures precise control over hydraulic operations. Additionally, its Viton seal kits provide durability under various operating conditions.

This valve is a normally-open, electro-proportional throttle. The valve is spring biased open. Energizing the coil generates an closing force on the spool proportional to the command current and this force is countered by the spring and flow forces. This force balance creates a metering orifice whose effective size is proportional to the current. The valve exhibits a large degree of self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and will provide proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with the addition of an external compensator. Full reverse flow (2 to 1) with no command in the 2 to 1 direction is possible without a compensator under all conditions.

  • Available in either a normally open or normally closed configuration with three different capacity ranges.
  • Capable of operating with pressures up to 5000 psi.
  • Low leakage levels in the closed position.
  • Coils are interchangeable with Sun's other full flow, solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See Option Configuration.
  • For optimum performance, an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither should be used. Dither should be adjustable between 100 - 250 Hz.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, E, L and T manual control assemblies have a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • The momentary/twist override option "E" allows the operator to shift the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise 90 degrees.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
