The Sun Hydraulics FPCCTDN71299 (Material Number: FPCCTDN71299) is a normally closed, electroproportional throttle valve designed to provide precise flow control in hydraulic systems. This valve is spring-biased to the closed position and operates by energizing the coil, which generates an opening force on the spool proportional to the command current. The balance between this force and counteracting spring and flow forces creates a metering orifice whose size is proportional to the input current. It features self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and can offer proportional flow control from 2 to 1 with an external compensator. The valve allows full reverse flow from 2 to 1 without a compensator under all conditions when fully commanded. This model is available in normally open or closed configurations with three capacity ranges, capable of handling pressures up to 5000 psi. It ensures low leakage levels when closed and features interchangeable coils with other Sun solenoid-operated valves. For enhanced performance, it is recommended to use an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither between 100-250 Hz. The manual override options include several configurations, such as a momentary-twist option for temporary actuation. The valve incorporates Sun's floating style construction, minimizing internal part binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. It fits into a T-13A cavity, has a capacity of 10 gpm (40 L/min), and exhibits maximum leakage of 6 in\u00b3/min at 3000 psi (100 cc/min at 210 bar). The solenoid tube diameter measures .75 inches (19 mm), with installation torque ranging from 30-35 lbf-ft (41-47 Nm). The cartridge weighs approximately 1.10 lb (0.50 kg) with the coil included, and it supports EPDM seals for systems using phosphate ester fluids while avoiding petroleum-based fluids which could damage the seals.

This valve is a normally-closed, electro-proportional throttle. The valve is spring biased closed. Energizing the coil generates an opening force on the spool proportional to the command current and this force is countered by the spring and flow forces. This force balance creates a metering orifice whose effective size is proportional to the current. The valve exhibits a large degree of self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and will provide proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with the addition of an external compensator. Full reverse flow (2 to 1) with 100% command in the 2 to 1 direction is possible without a compensator under all conditions.
- Available in either a normally open or normally closed configuration with three different capacity ranges.
- Capable of operating with pressures up to 5000 psi.
- Low leakage levels in the closed position.
- Coils are interchangeable with Sun's other full flow, solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
- This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See Option Configuration.
- For optimum performance, an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither should be used. Dither should be adjustable between 100 - 250 Hz.
- On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, E, L and T manual control assemblies have a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
- The momentary/twist override option "E" allows the operator to shift the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise 90 degrees.
- Cartridges with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
