The Sun Hydraulics FDBAHAN (Material Number: FDBAHAN) is a fully adjustable, pressure-compensated flow control cartridge with a reverse flow check, designed for precise flow regulation in both meter-in and meter-out applications. This component is particularly effective in systems experiencing wide pressure fluctuations, as it can be infinitely adjusted from nearly closed to the maximum flow capacity of 6 gpm (23 L/min). The integral high-capacity check valve ensures unrestricted flow from port 2 to port 1. The cartridge is designed to be physically and functionally interchangeable with other 2-port flow control cartridges of the same frame size, although extension dimensions may vary from the mounting surface. The FDBAHAN model features a balanced adjustment mechanism for easy operation even under high pressures, and its sharp-edged orifice design minimizes variations due to viscosity changes. When the adjustment mechanism is set to shutoff, minimum leakage is limited to 0.1 gpm (0.4 L/min). It should be noted that cartridges with EPDM seals are suitable for systems using phosphate ester fluids but are susceptible to damage if exposed to petroleum-based fluids. The cartridge fits into a T-13A cavity and belongs to Series 1. It can withstand a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). The adjustment screw has an internal hex size of 5/32 inches (4 mm), while the locknut hex size is 9/16 inches (15 mm), requiring a locknut torque of 80-90 lbf-in (9-10 Nm). The valve itself weighs .40 lb (0.20 kg) and requires an installation torque of 30-35 lbf-ft (41-47 Nm).
