The Sun Hydraulics DNCALBN812N (DNCALBN812N) is a high-performance, solenoid-operated directional valve designed for precise hydraulic fluid control in various applications. This 4-way, 2-position cartridge valve features a direct-acting, balanced spool with a closed transition between positions, which significantly minimizes oil loss during shifting. This characteristic is especially beneficial in pilot control circuits where maintaining fluid integrity is crucial. With a capacity of 8 gpm/30 L/min and an operating pressure up to 5000 psi/350 bar, the DNCALBN812N ensures robust performance under demanding conditions. The valve's design allows for reverse flow; however, optimal performance in this mode isn't guaranteed. The solenoid tube assembly of the valve is fatigue rated for high-pressure service, enhancing its durability and lifespan. This model incorporates EPDM seals suited for systems using phosphate ester fluids, while exposure to petroleum-based substances should be avoided to prevent seal damage. The wet armature design aids in heat management around the coil but requires consideration of fluid type as prolonged heat exposure may degrade certain fluids. The DNCALBN812N offers flexibility with various coil termination and voltage options, including models with surge protection. Its coils are compatible with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted in either direction on the tube. Additional features include IP69K-rated connector options and optional weatherized coils for enhanced environmental protection. Sun Hydraulics has also integrated a floating style construction into this model to minimize internal parts binding caused by installation torque or machining variations of the cavity/cartridge. With these advanced features and configurations, the DNCALBN812N stands out as a reliable solution for efficient and precise hydraulic fluid management in specialized applications.

This solenoid-operated, 4-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve. The transition between positions is closed. The closed transition greatly reduces the loss of oil when shifting which can be of particular importance in pilot control circuits.

  • Valve capacity is based on port 3 as the inlet and port 1 as the tank. Although reverse flow is possible, the same performance cannot be guaranteed and is not recommended.
  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • A wide variety of coil termination and voltage options are available, with and without surge protection. See the CONFIGURATION section.
  • The solenoid's unique magnetic design results in a high efficiency solenoid, yielding high spool actuating force per Watt expended, leading to reliable valve shifting.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Coil connector options offer ratings up to IP69K. See individual coil product pages for details. Additional weatherized coils and kits are available for more complete environmental protection.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
