The Sun Hydraulics DMDAXRV936 (DMDAXRV936) is a high-performance solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge valve designed for precise hydraulic control. This direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve operates without the need for a minimum hydraulic pressure, making it highly effective in a variety of applications. It features a fatigue-rated solenoid tube assembly for services up to 5000 psi (350 bar), ensuring durability and reliability under high-pressure conditions. The DMDAXRV936 valve is particularly noted for its closed transitions between Spools B and R, which enhance performance by providing faster and more consistent response times, ideal for applications requiring precise control such as in pilot operations where capacity is less critical. The manual override option available on models with D or L control uses a detent mechanism designed for temporary actuation, with a mechanical life expectancy of about 7,000 cycles. This model incorporates EPDM seals suitable for systems using phosphate ester fluids; however, these seals must not be exposed to petroleum-based fluids as they can cause damage. The wet armature design of the valve allows the working fluid to surround the armature which helps in heat management but requires careful consideration of fluid properties to avoid breakdowns or varnish formation that could impair functionality. Additional features include interchangeable coils with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products, floating style construction to minimize internal parts binding, and compatibility with T11A cavity specifications. The valve supports up to 12 gpm (45 L/min) capacity and offers quick response times typically around 50 ms. Designed for robustness and efficiency in demanding environments, the DMDAXRV936 is an optimal choice for advanced hydraulic systems requiring reliable directional control.

This solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve.

  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • Spools B and R are closed in the transition between their two positions. This results in a higher performance limit at the expense of lower capacity. When used as pilot controls, where capacity is not a factor, the closed transition will provide faster and more consistent response times.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, L and T manual control assembly has a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
