The Sun Hydraulics DMDATRV924 (DMDATRV924) is a high-performance solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge valve engineered for direct-acting control with a balanced spool design. This valve features a fatigue rating of 5000 psi for robust operation in demanding applications. The DMDATRV924 is specifically designed to ensure closed spools B and R during transitions, enhancing performance by providing faster and more consistent response times, especially suitable for pilot control applications where capacity is less critical. The valve operates without requiring a minimum hydraulic pressure, making it versatile across various hydraulic systems. It incorporates manual override options with the detent mechanism designed for temporary actuation, supporting mechanical life expectancy up to approximately 7,000 cycles. The DMDATRV924 uses EPDM seals suitable for phosphate ester fluids while avoiding exposure to petroleum-based substances which could degrade the seals. A notable feature of this model is its wet armature design where the working fluid surrounds the armature, potentially affecting fluid integrity under prolonged coil energization. This model supports interchangeable coils with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and offers flexibility in mounting orientation. Additional attributes include a maximum flow capacity of 12 gpm (45 L/min), quick typical response times of around 50 ms, and a switching frequency capable of handling up to 15,000 cycles per hour. Leakages are minimal at high pressures, ensuring efficient operation. It also features Sun's floating style construction that minimizes internal part binding due to installation torque or machining variations in the cavity/cartridge setup, specified as T11A cavity type within Series 1. The manual override requires minimal force and has a short stroke length for ease of operation while maintaining tight control over system parameters.

This solenoid-operated 3-way, 2-position cartridge is a direct-acting, balanced spool directional valve.

  • The solenoid tube assembly is fatigue rated for 5000 psi (350 bar) service.
  • Spools B and R are closed in the transition between their two positions. This results in a higher performance limit at the expense of lower capacity. When used as pilot controls, where capacity is not a factor, the closed transition will provide faster and more consistent response times.
  • This valve is direct actuated and requires no minimum hydraulic pressure for operation.
  • On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, L and T manual control assembly has a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
  • This valve utilizes a wet armature design. This means that the working fluid surrounds the armature and is exposed to the heat generated by the coil. This can be a factor if the coil is energized for long periods of time. Some fluids, notably water/glycol mixtures, break down at these temperatures over time and form varnishes that will affect the function of the cartridge.
  • Coils are interchangeable with other Sun Series 1 solenoid products and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
