The Sun Hydraulics RPGELAN (RPGELAN) is a fast-acting, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients. This normally closed, pressure-limiting valve effectively manages pressure surges by throttling flow to limit pressure rise when the inlet port reaches the set valve pressure. With a rapid response time of approximately 2 ms and a low pressure rise versus flow, this valve is ideal for applications requiring quick action. It is functionally interchangeable with other 2-port relief cartridges of the same frame size, making it versatile and adaptable for various hydraulic systems. The RPGELAN model can handle a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and has a capacity of 50 gpm (200 L/min). It features a main stage orifice protected by a 150-micron stainless steel screen, ensuring durability and reliability in demanding environments. However, it is not suitable for load-holding applications due to potential spool leakage. This cartridge accepts maximum pressure at port 2 and is suitable for use in cross-port relief circuits; however, users should consider spool leakage in such configurations. The back pressure on tank port 2 directly adds to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
