The Sun Hydraulics RPGDABN (RPGDABN) is an air-controlled, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridge designed for precise pressure regulation in hydraulic systems. It utilizes compressed air over a diaphragm to control the pressure setting, offering an alternative to traditional adjustable spring mechanisms. This normally closed pressure regulating valve begins to open when the inlet port 1 reaches the designated valve setting, directing flow to tank port 2 and effectively managing pressure levels. Notable for its accuracy and low-pressure rise versus flow characteristics, this valve operates smoothly and quietly with moderate speed. The RPGDABN is suitable for cross-port relief circuits and can handle maximum pressures at port 2 without issue. The maximum permissible air pressure should not exceed 150 psi (10 bar). Its design ensures interchangeability across all 2-port relief cartridges, except pilot reliefs, maintaining consistent flow paths and cavity dimensions for a given frame size. The incorporation of Sun's floating style construction minimizes potential internal part binding due to excessive torque or machining variations. Additional specifications include a T-3A cavity, Series 2 capacity of 50 gpm (200 L/min), a pilot ratio of 20:1, and a maximum operating pressure of 2000 psi (140 bar). The typical response time is approximately 10 ms with minimal leakage at specified conditions. The cartridge features a hex size of 1-1/8 inches (28.6 mm) and requires an installation torque between 45-50 lbf-ft (61-68 Nm). Weighing in at .50 lb (.25 kg), it also supports Viton seal kits for reliable performance in demanding environments.

Air-controlled, pilot-operated, balanced piston relief cartridges use compressed air over a diaphragm instead of an adjustable spring to control pressure setting. The air signal is supplied through a port in the hex-end of the cartridge. They are normally closed pressure regulating valves. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to regulate the pressure. These valves are accurate, have low pressure rise vs. flow, they are smooth and quiet, and are moderately fast.

  • Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits.
  • Maximum air pressure should not exceed 150 psi (10 bar).
  • All 2-port relief cartridges (except pilot reliefs) are physically and functionally interchangeable (same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size).
  • Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
