The Sun Hydraulics RPCCLCV (Material Number: RPCCLCV) is a pilot-operated, balanced-piston relief cartridge designed for pressure regulation in hydraulic systems. This valve remains normally closed and begins to open when the inlet port pressure reaches the set threshold, allowing flow to the tank port to regulate pressure. It offers precise control with low pressure rise relative to flow, ensuring smooth and quiet operation with moderate response speed. The RPCCLCV can handle maximum pressures up to 5000 psi (350 bar) and has a capacity of 12 gpm (45 L/min). It is interchangeable with other 2-port relief cartridges of similar frame size, making it versatile for various applications. However, it is not suitable for load-holding applications due to potential spool leakage. The valve features a protective main stage orifice against contamination and uses Sun's floating style construction to minimize internal part binding from installation torque or machining variations. It accepts maximum pressure at port 2, making it ideal for cross-port relief circuits while considering spool leakage. The minimum setting across all spring ranges is 75 psi (5 bar), and back pressure on the tank port directly affects the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. For systems using phosphate ester fluids, cartridges configured with EPDM seals are recommended as exposure to petroleum-based fluids may damage these seals. The RPCCLCV includes an adjustment mechanism with five clockwise turns required to increase the setting, a locknut hex size of 1/2 inch (12.7 mm), and an installation torque range of 20-25 lbf-ft (27-33 Nm). With its robust design and reliable performance characteristics, this cartridge valve is suitable for various hydraulic system applications requiring precise pressure regulation without compromising on speed or stability.

Pilot-operated, balanced-piston relief cartridges are normally closed pressure regulating valves. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to regulate the pressure. These valves are accurate, have low pressure rise vs. flow, they are smooth and quiet, and are moderately fast.
- All 2-port relief cartridges (except pilot reliefs) are physically and functionally interchangeable (same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size).
- Will accept maximum pressure at port 2; suitable for use in cross port relief circuits. If used in cross port relief circuits, consider spool leakage.
- Minimum setting is 75 psi (5 bar) for all spring ranges.
- Not suitable for use in load holding applications due to spool leakage.
- Back pressure on the tank port (port 2) is directly additive to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
- The main stage orifice is protected against contamination.
- Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
