The Sun Hydraulics RDFACDN (RDFACDN) is a direct-acting relief cartridge designed to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients by acting as a normally closed, pressure-limiting valve. When the inlet port 1 reaches the valve setting, it opens to tank port 2, throttling flow to limit the pressure rise. This valve is known for its smooth operation, quiet performance, and essentially zero leakage. It is dirt tolerant, immune to silting, and offers very fast response times. The RDFACDN is interchangeable with other 2-port relief cartridges of the same frame size due to its consistent flow path and cavity design. It can handle maximum pressure at port 2 and is suitable for cross-port relief circuits and load-holding applications. The valve features a unique adjustment mechanism where the seals on the adjust screw are exposed to system pressure, requiring pressure removal for adjustments. Its performance remains relatively unaffected by varying oil temperatures or contamination levels. For optimal repeatability of the relief setting, it\u2019s advised to select a spring range where the desired setting falls between midrange and high of the minimum and maximum pressures. The back pressure on tank port 2 directly adds to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio.
