The Sun Hydraulics RDDAKDN (RDDAKDN) is a direct-acting relief cartridge designed to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients by acting as a normally closed, pressure-limiting valve. When the inlet port 1 experiences pressure that exceeds the valve's setting, it opens to tank port 2, throttling flow to limit further pressure increase. This valve is characterized by its smooth and quiet operation with essentially zero leakage, high dirt tolerance, and immunity to silting. It is fast in response with a typical response time of 2 milliseconds. The RDDAKDN model is physically and functionally interchangeable with other 2-port relief cartridges of the same frame size and flow path, making it suitable for use in cross-port relief circuits. This cartridge can handle a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and has a capacity of 25 gpm (95 L/min). It features Sun's floating style construction to minimize internal parts binding due to installation torque or machining variations. The valve is relatively insensitive to varying oil temperatures and contamination, ensuring reliable performance across different conditions. When the pressure at the inlet (port 1) reaches the valve setting, the valve starts to open to tank (port 2), throttling flow to limit the pressure rise.
