The Sun Hydraulics RDBAKAN (RDBAKAN) is a direct-acting relief cartridge designed to protect hydraulic components from pressure transients. This normally closed, pressure-limiting valve opens to tank port 2 when the inlet port 1 reaches the set pressure, effectively throttling flow to control pressure rise. Notable for its smooth and quiet operation, it is essentially zero leak, dirt tolerant, and immune to silting, with a rapid response time of approximately 2 ms. The RDBAKAN model is compatible with cross-port relief circuits and can handle maximum pressures at port 2. It features a unique construction that minimizes the risk of internal part binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. The valve's adjust screw seals are exposed to system pressure; hence adjustments should only be made when the system is depressurized. It operates optimally within a spring range where the desired relief setting is midrange to high between minimum and maximum pressures for maximum repeatability. The design is relatively insensitive to varying oil temperatures and contamination, making it suitable for load-holding applications. Additionally, backpressure on tank port 2 directly adds to the valve setting at a 1:1 ratio. With a capacity of 12 gpm (45 L/min), this model has a factory pressure setting established at 4 gpm (15 L/min) and can withstand a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar).
