The Sun Hydraulics NFCCLDV (NFCCLDV) is a versatile needle valve designed for precise flow regulation in hydraulic systems. This fully adjustable orifice can be infinitely adjusted from fully closed to the maximum orifice diameter, making it suitable for use as both a flow control and a shutoff valve. The NFCCLDV is not pressure compensated, meaning the flow regulation through the valve is proportional to the square root of the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2. This model features a balanced adjustment mechanism that allows for easy adjustments even under high pressures, and its sharp-edged orifice design minimizes flow variations due to viscosity changes. The bidirectional flow path, with a preference from port 1 to 2, ensures interchangeability with other flow controls. When fully closed, there is no leakage through the adjustment mechanism. This specific cartridge fits into cavity T-13A and offers a capacity of up to 7 gpm (28 L/min) with a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). The valve's hex size measures .78 inches (22.2 mm), and it requires an installation torque between 30 to 35 lbf ft (41 to 47 Nm). For adjustments, the internal hex size of the screw is .156 inches (4 mm), while the locknut hex size is .5625 inches (15 mm), requiring a torque of 80 to 90 lbf in (9 to 10 Nm). Weighing only .30 lb (.15 kg), this model can be configured with EPDM seals for use in systems utilizing phosphate ester fluids; however, exposure to petroleum-based fluids should be avoided as it will damage these seals. Needle valves are fully adjustable orifices used to regulate flow. They are infinitely adjustable from fully closed up to the maximum orifice diameter. They are not pressure compensated and may be used as flow controls or as shutoff valves.

  • All 2-port flow control cartridges are physically and functionally interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size). However, cartridge extension dimensions from the mounting surface may vary.
  • Because needle valves are non-compensating devices, the fixed orifice size will regulate flow through the valve in proportion to the square root of the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2.
