The Sun Hydraulics NFCCLCN/LH (NFCCLCN/LH) is a versatile needle valve designed for precise flow regulation in hydraulic systems. This fully adjustable orifice allows for infinite adjustment from fully closed to the maximum orifice diameter, making it suitable for use as both a flow control and shutoff valve. The valve is non-pressure compensated, meaning that flow regulation is dependent on the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2, with the fixed orifice size controlling flow proportional to the square root of this pressure difference. A balanced adjustment mechanism ensures ease of adjustment even under high-pressure conditions, while the sharp-edged orifice design minimizes variations in flow due to changes in fluid viscosity. This model features a bidirectional flow path, with port 1 to 2 being the preferred direction to maintain interchangeability with other flow control devices. It guarantees zero leakage when set to the shutoff position, providing reliable performance in critical applications. The NFCCLCN/LH is compatible with phosphate ester fluids when equipped with EPDM seals but should not be exposed to petroleum-based fluids as they can damage these seals. The valve fits into a T-13A cavity and belongs to Series 1, offering a capacity of up to 7 gpm (28 L/min) at a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar). Its compact design includes an internal hex size for adjustment screws and locknut torque specifications ensuring secure installation and operation. Weighing just .30 lb (.15 kg), this needle valve is lightweight yet robust, providing efficient performance in demanding hydraulic applications.

Needle valves are fully adjustable orifices used to regulate flow. They are infinitely adjustable from fully closed up to the maximum orifice diameter. They are not pressure compensated and may be used as flow controls or as shutoff valves.

  • All 2-port flow control cartridges are physically and functionally interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size). However, cartridge extension dimensions from the mounting surface may vary.
  • Because needle valves are non-compensating devices, the fixed orifice size will regulate flow through the valve in proportion to the square root of the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2.
  • A balanced adjustment mechanism allows for easy adjustment even at high pressures.
  • The sharp-edged orifice design minimizes flow variations due to viscosity changes.
  • The flow path through this valve is bi-directional. The preferred path is port 1 to 2, to allow interchangeability with other flow controls.
  • There is no leakage when the adjustment mechanism is turned to the shut-off position.
  • Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
