The Sun Hydraulics NFCCLCN/AP (NFCCLCN/AP) is a precision-engineered needle valve designed to provide fully adjustable flow control in hydraulic systems. This versatile component is capable of being infinitely adjusted from fully closed to the maximum orifice diameter, making it suitable for applications requiring precise flow regulation or shutoff capabilities. The valve features a balanced adjustment mechanism, allowing for easy operation even under high-pressure conditions, and its sharp-edged orifice design minimizes flow variations due to changes in fluid viscosity. Additionally, the NFCCLCN/AP model offers bidirectional flow paths, with a preferred direction from port 1 to 2 for compatibility with other flow control devices. The needle valve's construction ensures no leakage when in the shutoff position, providing reliable performance in critical applications. It is designed for physical and functional interchangeability with all 2-port flow control cartridges of the same frame size, although extension dimensions may vary. The NFCCLCN/AP can handle a maximum operating pressure of 5000 psi (350 bar) and has a capacity of up to 7 gpm (28 L/min). For systems utilizing phosphate ester fluids, this model can be configured with EPDM seals; however, these seals are not compatible with petroleum-based fluids. Installation requires specific torque settings: valve installation torque ranges between 30-35 lbf ft (41-47 Nm), while locknut torque should be maintained at 80-90 lbf in (9-10 Nm). The compact design includes an internal hex adjustment screw and locknut hex size for secure installation and maintenance. With its robust construction and adaptable features, the Sun Hydraulics NFCCLCN/AP needle valve is an essential component for achieving precise flow control in demanding hydraulic environments.

Needle valves are fully adjustable orifices used to regulate flow. They are infinitely adjustable from fully closed up to the maximum orifice diameter. They are not pressure compensated and may be used as flow controls or as shutoff valves.
- All 2-port flow control cartridges are physically and functionally interchangeable (i.e. same flow path, same cavity for a given frame size). However, cartridge extension dimensions from the mounting surface may vary.
- Because needle valves are non-compensating devices, the fixed orifice size will regulate flow through the valve in proportion to the square root of the pressure differential across ports 1 and 2.
- A balanced adjustment mechanism allows for easy adjustment even at high pressures.
- The sharp-edged orifice design minimizes flow variations due to viscosity changes.
- The flow path through this valve is bi-directional. The preferred path is port 1 to 2, to allow interchangeability with other flow controls.
- There is no leakage when the adjustment mechanism is turned to the shut-off position.
- Cartridges configured with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
