The Sun Hydraulics FTDGXCN (FTDGXCN) is a 3-way, 2-position proportional directional valve designed for precise flow control in hydraulic systems. In its spring-biased position, it allows a metered flow between ports 2 and 3 while port 4 remains blocked. When pilot pressure is applied at port 1, the valve creates a metering orifice between ports 3 and 4, with the flow being proportional to the pressure at port 1. This configuration offers partial self-compensation as load pressures fluctuate. The spring chamber is drained through port 6, and port 5 is not utilized in this setup. Depending on the spool configuration, ports 2, 3, and 4 may be closed or restricted during transitions. The valve operates at nominal pressures up to 500 psi (35 bar) for ports 1 and 6 and can handle a maximum operating pressure of up to 5000 psi (350 bar). It has a capacity of handling flows up to 18 gpm (70 L/min). To achieve full shift at rated flow, a pilot pressure of approximately 300 psi (20 bar) is required, with a minimum pilot pressure of about 50 psi (3.5 bar) necessary to initiate valve shifting. Depending on the spool specified, ports 2, 3, and 4 are either closed or restricted during transition.

  • Nominal operating pressures for port 1 and port 6 should not exceed 500 psi (35 bar).
