The Sun Hydraulics FPCCTAN914 (FPCCTAN914) is a versatile, normally-closed electroproportional throttle valve designed for precise flow control in hydraulic systems. This valve is spring-biased to remain closed until energizing the coil creates an opening force on the spool proportional to the command current. This action results in a metering orifice whose size directly correlates with the current, allowing for controlled fluid flow. The FPCCTAN914 is self-compensating in one direction and can provide proportional flow control in the opposite direction when paired with an external compensator. It supports full reverse flow without a compensator under all conditions. This model offers flexibility with configurations available in both normally open or closed setups and three different capacity ranges, handling pressures up to 5000 psi. It features low leakage levels when closed and interchangeable coils compatible with other Sun solenoid-operated valves. Installation options include several manual override choices, such as a momentary twist option for temporary actuation. The valve incorporates Sun's floating style construction, minimizing internal part binding due to excessive installation torque or machining variations. For optimal performance, it is recommended to use an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither between 100 - 250 Hz. The FPCCTAN914 is suitable for systems using phosphate ester fluids when equipped with EPDM seals but should avoid exposure to petroleum-based substances. Technical specifications include a T13A cavity, Series 1 classification, a capacity of 10 gpm (40 L/min), and a maximum valve leakage at 110 SUS of 6 in/min (3000 psi). The valve has a hex size of 7/8 inches (22.2 mm) and requires installation torque between 30 - 35 lbf ft (41 - 47 Nm). The model weight with coil is approximately 1.10 lb (0.50 kg), making it both robust and manageable for various hydraulic applications.

This valve is a normally-closed, electro-proportional throttle. The valve is spring biased closed. Energizing the coil generates an opening force on the spool proportional to the command current and this force is countered by the spring and flow forces. This force balance creates a metering orifice whose effective size is proportional to the current. The valve exhibits a large degree of self-compensation in the 1 to 2 direction and will provide proportional flow control in the 2 to 1 direction with the addition of an external compensator. Full reverse flow (2 to 1) with 100% command in the 2 to 1 direction is possible without a compensator under all conditions.
- Available in either a normally open or normally closed configuration with three different capacity ranges.
- Capable of operating with pressures up to 5000 psi.
- Low leakage levels in the closed position.
- Coils are interchangeable with Sun's other full flow, solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted on the tube in either direction.
- This cartridge has several manual override choices, including no manual override. See Option Configuration.
- For optimum performance, an amplifier with current sensing and adjustable dither should be used. Dither should be adjustable between 100 - 250 Hz.
- On models equipped with the D or L control, the detent mechanism in the manual override is meant for temporary actuation. The D, E, L and T manual control assemblies have a mechanical life expectancy of approximately 7,000 cycles.
- The momentary/twist override option "E" allows the operator to shift the valve by twisting the manual override clockwise 90 degrees.
- Cartridges with EPDM seals are for use in systems with phosphate ester fluids. Exposure to petroleum based fluids, greases and lubricants will damage the seals.
- Incorporates the Sun floating style construction to minimize the possibility of internal parts binding due to excessive installation torque and/or cavity/cartridge machining variations.
