The Sun Hydraulics FMDBMCV212 (FMDBMCV212) is a 3-way, meter-in, electro-proportional throttle valve designed for precise flow control in hydraulic systems. When unenergized, the valve blocks supply at port 1 and connects port 2 to the tank via port 3. Upon energizing the coil, a closing force is applied to the spool, creating a metering orifice in the 1 to 2 direction proportional to the coil command current. This valve self-compensates in the 1 to 2 direction and can be pressure compensated with an external compensator for enhanced flow control. The flow from port 2 to port 3 is not proportional. The transition between positions is closed, and using two of these valves can create a four-way configuration that allows selection from existing flow ranges without requiring custom spools. For pressure compensation, an external modulating logic element such as LRCXHN or LPCXHN can be used. The valve's design provides self-compensation for use as a flow control device. To improve accuracy across varying flows and pressures, an external modulating logic element may be employed. All ports are rated for up to 5000 psi (350 bar). The coils are interchangeable with other Sun solenoid-operated valves and can be mounted in either direction on the tube. Optimal performance is achieved with an amplifier featuring current sensing and adjustable dither between 100-250 Hz. Models equipped with D or L controls have a manual override detent mechanism designed for temporary actuation with approximately 7,000 cycles of mechanical life expectancy. The momentary-twist override option E allows manual shifting by twisting clockwise by 90 degrees.
